Illustrators
Annual Exhibition
Of Association for Illustrators of Children's Book
ژDespite the fact that there were many up-and-downs that delayed illustrators biannual, the annual exhibition of the society of illustrators from 15th to 20th of ordibehest of 1386, held in Momayez Khane Honarmrndan gallery, makes us hesitate more on this art and its artists. This art has improved step by step in these last ten years and has made Iran gain many awards, but it's still obsolete and needs more consideration and we still suffer lack of such works on our walls. However, when the first annual exhibition was carried out in Bahman of 1385, the society of illustrators of children's books decided to have their second annual exhibition in ordibehest of 1386.
So they presented seventy six illustrations from both famous and new illustrators. Although this decision was sudden and they didn't have enough time, but the society could confirm its activities by exhibiting works of artists such as: Mohammad Reza Dadgar, Nooredin Zarin kelk, Farideh Shahbazi, and Nafiseh Shahdadi.
There were also famous illustrators' works, such as Ali Hashemi shahraki, pejiman Rahimi Zadeh, Hoda Hadadi, Atieh Markazi, and Alireza Goldoozian. Although there are many troubles for this minority of artists, caused by some centers and individuals, they try to expand their fields of activities and in their first step, they've been able to gather their members and so they have found one hundred and fifty illustrators instead of seventy members they had two years ago. As a result, these artists find themselves in a society that belongs to them and create their works regardless of such troubles. It is worth mentioning that many young artists are added to this group and many others are still joining. They are collegians of this new course who have teachers from amongst this group. The exhibition which drew different Medias' attention towards itself after a long time and by the help of widespread advertisements, made different active presses report about this exhibition widely and discuss illustration expansively. Regarding categorizing works of art, artists were permitted to present images with free techniques. You could easily find images of cards which were presented by this society in this Farvardin. Some of the works belonged to a work room which was held last Esfand and the famous English illustrator, Patrick Benson had taken part in it. This work room's name was Roc of Attar. However illustrators selected their favorite works themselves in order to be criticized. The society of illustrators has been more successful these nine months than last years. Fortunately we had three exhibitions of Illustrators' Book of the Year Annual Exhibition of Bahman of 1385, and Second Annual Exhibition with intervals of three months.

Samantha Ahdoot
Art has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. Born in Iran,
into a Persian culture of Islamic influence and raised in California, the
dichotomy of the two cultures has played a big part in my life, specially on
the creative level.
I fell into graphic design during my studies in college. The diversity of
numerous art styles combining into one practice attracted me. It taught me
discipline. Encouraged me to discover other forms of expressions;
photography, illustration, typography, layout and digital manipulation. It
taught me the value of self discovery and the understanding of outside
influences, therefore, allowing me to utilize this knowledge as a great
means of communication. This discipline has helped me process the inner and
outer elements of my life onto a further study of self expression, my
paintings. It has given me strength and pushed me beyond my own boundaries.
In this path, my paintings have given me the ability to freely and truly
express my thoughts and emotions through a more organic process. By means of
utilizing the human body, I have been able to communicate the power of
emotions and the body and their relationships and contributions to each
other. By means of using wood as my canvas, I've also been able to
incorporate and combine my art with the environment that surrounds me. As
is, part of the earth, part of nature such is our bodies and our emotions,
such is our own existence.
The final meaning and motivation of my work usually surfaces after it's
completion. It is in this mystery that I remain intrigued and often a
stranger, waiting patiently to unravel yet another layer of myself.
Exhibitions:
2003--Sponto Gallery--Venice, California.
Deep emotions expressed through the abstraction of the human body. A
manipulation of textures, lines, and colors, conveying the essence of an
inner soul. A higher spirit. Something felt but seldom seen. A release of
flight and energy. A realm of inner vision, flowing from mind to brush to
canvas, giving one the sense of visual form of emotions, stretched and
broken as a body may be. A body to a body. A transference of the cathartic
flow. Color, muscle, time. The inside realized.
